New Materials & Lamination System for High Output Production of PVC Cards Transilwrap Company, Franklin Park, Illinois, in partnership with Autofeeds Incorporated, Green Bay, Wisconsin, announced the introduction of a new "game changing" system for manufacturing PVC cards with PVC core and PVC Thermal overlaminate for roll lamination process. The core materials from Transilwrap are typically 15 - 20 mil white PVC that are digitally printed and provided with an appropriate coating for various Digital Print solutions such as the HP Indigo systems. After printing, the sheets will then be laminated with Transilwrap Val-Cardtm Thermal laminating films tuned for the particular print process adhesion. These overlaminates can be provided with Mag stripe, signature stripe or writable matte coating. The second part of this system is the latest version of the fully established Autofeeds laminating and in-line semi-rotary die cutting system. This system, when using a 12"X 18" 21 up sheet format in PVC construction, can produce 50,000 CR80 cards per hour over the traditional 5000 cards from conventional Platen lamination processes. The Autofeeds system imparts a gloss calendaring process during lamination and the rotary die cut is sharp, precise and clean yielding a card that is virtually indistinguishable from traditional PVC cards. These cards pass ISO adhesion specs and can be personalized in traditional ways, including embossing. This system of materials and equipment is already installed and proven in a production environment and meeting all of these breakthrough criteria. |
